What is the Translator (Tibetan) job profile?
This is a permanent, Group A Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post under the Ministry of Defence. The primary duties include translating intercepted traffic, recorded tapes, and printed materials into English, translating materials from the Military Intelligence Directorate, preparing training exercises for language-trained personnel, and maintaining foreign language publications.
What is the minimum educational qualification for this job?
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in the Foreign Language concerned (Tibetan) with English as a compulsory or elective subject at the degree level from a recognized University. Alternatively, candidates with a Bachelor’s degree (with English as a compulsory/elective subject) and a Diploma in the Foreign Language concerned (Tibetan) with interpretership or translation standard from a recognized University/Institute are also eligible.
Is there any experience required?
While not mandatory, three years of experience in teaching and/or translating the relevant foreign language (Tibetan) into English and vice-versa is considered a desirable qualification.
What is the age limit and pay scale?
The upper age limit is 35 years for UR candidates. The post carries a pay scale of Level-10 in the Pay Matrix as per the 7th CPC.
