What is the role of a Livestock Officer?
The Livestock Officer is responsible for assisting in the implementation of Livestock Health related schemes run by State Government agencies on an all-India basis. They also contribute to policy and planning work regarding livestock health issues for the Government of India, handle Parliament Questions/Assurances, and coordinate with international bodies like OIE, APHCA, and FAO.
What is the minimum educational qualification required?
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry as listed in the First and Second Schedule of the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984. Additionally, registration with the Veterinary Council of India or a State Veterinary Council is mandatory.
Is there any experience required for this job?
Yes, candidates must have three years of experience in Cattle and Livestock Development, Animal Health, Poultry, or Meat and Meat Products from Central/State Government, Union Territory Administration, statutory organizations, autonomous bodies, or recognized institutes.
What is the age limit for this post?
The age limit is 35 years for EWS, 38 years for OBC, and 40 years for SC/ST candidates.
