What is the selection process?
Selection in the Indian Army is 'Fair & Transparent' and on merit only. Candidates should not fall prey to unscrupulous persons posing as recruiting agents.
What are the eligibility criteria?
The selection of candidates will be carried out for the following category as per qualitative requirement:
Agniveer General Duty (Women Military Police)
- Age (in years): 17 ½ - 22 yrs#.
- Education Requirement: Class 10th /Matric pass with 45% marks in aggregate of five basic subjects and minimum 33% marks in each of those five subjects. For boards following grading system, grades commensurate to percentages, as above, will be considered. Indian Gorkhas – Class 10th simple pass.
Are there any age relaxations?
Yes, the upper age limit will be relaxable up to 30 years of age (as on date of joining training) in respect of widows of Defence personnel who have died in harness.
Who else is eligible?
Women who are widowed, divorced or legally separated are also eligible provided they do not have any children subject to fulfilling all other eligibility criteria.
Widows of Defence Personnel who have died in harness will be eligible to apply for enrolment as Women Military Police. Such widows even with children will be, however, eligible only if they have not remarried.
What about candidates awaiting results?
Candidates who have appeared in class 10th Board Exam and are awaiting declaration of results are also eligible to apply provided they fulfill all other Qualification Required. Such candidates, however, shall only be selected when they produce the original marksheet during the Phase II of the recruitment process.
What is the date of birth criteria?
Candidate born between 01 Jul 2005 to 01 Jul 2009 (both days inclusive) are eligible to apply.
What are the physical standards?
Height:
Minimum height required is 162 cms.
Weight:
Weight standards are based on BMI as per the chart provided in the notification. The chart specifies minimum weight for all ages and maximum weight for age groups 17 to 20 years and 20+01 day to 30 years, corresponding to height in cm.
Chest Expansion:
The candidate should be capable of chest expansion of 05 cms.
Are there any special physical standards or relaxations?
Yes, candidates belonging to the following regions will be given 4 cms height relaxation:
- North East Region (Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Assam)
- Gorkhas
- Garhwalis
- Ladakhis
- Tribals of recognized tribal areas
Note: Domicile and Caste certificate will be considered to determine the applicability of height relaxation.
Are there any relaxations in physical standards for specific categories?
Yes, relaxations are available for:
- Widows of Defence personnel who have died in harness (Height: 2 Cms, Weight: 2 Kgs)
- Outstanding Sportswomen (International/National/State & those who represented District, College/School State/University /Board Championship) (Height: 2 Cms, Weight: 5 Kgs)
Note: An eligible candidate can be granted prescribed relaxations in all two measurements i.e. height and weight.
What incentives are available?
Bonus marks will be awarded to eligible candidates for various categories:
- DOS/DOES/DOWW/DOW, Including Adopted Daughter (two wards only): 20 Marks
- Widows of Def pers who have died in harness: 20 Marks
- Sportswomen:
- Represented India at the International level: 20 Marks
- Represented State at the Senior/Junior National level and have won any medal in individual event or have reached up to eighth position in Team event: 15 Marks
- Represented College / University in Inter University Championship and have won any medal in individual event or have reached up to sixth position in the Team event: 10 Marks
- Represented State at National Level in Khelo India Games and have won any medal in individual event or have reached up to sixth position in the team event: 10 Marks
- Represented District at the State Level and have won any medal in individual event or have reached up to fourth position in the Team event: 05 Marks
- Represented the State school team in the events org by All India School Games Federation and have won any medal in individual event or upto sixth posn in the Team event: 05 Marks
- NCC 'A' Certificate: 05 Marks
- NCC 'B' Certificate: 10 Marks
- NCC 'C' Certificate: 20 Marks
- NCC 'C' Certificate and participated in Republic Day Parade: 25 Marks
Notes on Bonus Marks:
- Fake claims for bonus marks or relaxation can lead to cancellation of candidature.
- Bonus marks are for merit formulation and do not relate to Common Entrance Examination performance.
- Maximum bonus marks are 25 (NCC 'C' with Republic Day Parade).
- Only two wards (including adopted daughter) of Service/Ex-Servicemen/War Widow/Widow of Ex-servicemen can avail bonus marks.
- Sports Certificates are valid for TWO YEARS from the first day of Common Entrance Examination.
What are the terms and conditions of service?
AGNIVEER will be enrolled in the Indian Army under Indian army Act 1950 for a period of four years. AGNIVEER would form a distinct rank in the Indian army. Indian army is not obliged to retain AGNIVEER beyond the engagement period of four years.
On completion of four years of service, based on organization's requirements and policies, AGNIVEER will be offered an opportunity to apply for permanent enrolment in the Indian Army. Up to 25% of each specific batch of AGNIVEER will be enrolled in the regular cadre. Selection for further enrolment is at the discretion of the Indian Army.
AGNIVEERs are liable to be assigned any duty in organizational interest.
On being enrolled, AGNIVEER will be imparted military training.
Leave:
- Annual Leave: 30 days per year
- Sick Leave: Based on medical advice.
Medical and CSD Facilities: AGNIVEER will be entitled for medical facility at Service Hospitals as well as CSD provisions.
Pay, Allowances and Allied Benefits: AGNIVEER will be paid an AGNIVEER package with a fixed yearly increment. Risk and Hardship allowances, Dress and Travel allowances will also be paid.
Terminal Benefits – Seva Nidhi Package: A one-time 'Seva Nidhi' package will be given comprising monthly contribution from the Agniveer and matching contribution from the Government. The package details are as follows:
- 1st Year: Monthly Package ~₹30,000/- (In Hand ~₹21,000/-), Contribution to Agniveers Corpus Fund ~₹9,000/-, Contribution to Corpus fund by GOI ~₹9,000/-
- 2nd Year: Monthly Package ~₹33,000/- (In Hand ~₹23,100/-), Contribution to Agniveers Corpus Fund ~₹9,900/-, Contribution to Corpus fund by GOI ~₹9,900/-
- 3rd Year: Monthly Package ~₹36,500/- (In Hand ~₹25,550/-), Contribution to Agniveers Corpus Fund ~₹10,950/-, Contribution to Corpus fund by GOI ~₹10,950/-
- 4th Year: Monthly Package ~₹40,000/- (In Hand ~₹28,000/-), Contribution to Agniveers Corpus Fund ~₹12,000/-, Contribution to Corpus fund by GOI ~₹12,000/-
- Total Contribution in Agniveers Corpus Fund after Four years: ~₹5.02 Lakh
- Exit after 4 Year: Approximately ~₹10.04 Lakh as Seva Nidhi Package (Absolute amount excluding Interest)
Notes on Seva Nidhi Package:
- AGNIVEER will not be required to contribute to any Provident Fund of the Government.
- There shall be no entitlement to any gratuity and any kind of pensionary benefits in case of AGNIVEER.
Insurance, Death and Disability Compensation: Non-contributory life insurance cover of Rs 48 lakhs for the duration of their engagement period. AGNIVEER will not be governed by the Pension Regulations/Rules for Indian Army.
Agniveer Skill Certificate: A detailed Skill-Set certificate will be provided at the end of the engagement period.
Personnel enrolled under this scheme will not be eligible for Ex-Servicemen Status.
Only unmarried candidates are eligible. Candidates must undertake not to marry during the engagement period. Marriage during this period will lead to release from service. Unmarried Agniveers are eligible for re-enrolment in the regular cadre. Women Agniveers must undertake not to get pregnant during the engagement period. Pregnant Women Agniveers are liable to be discharged/dismissed/released.
What is the procedure for online registration?
1. Candidates must log in to www.joinindianarmy.nic.in, check their eligibility status, and create their profile. They should fill in their Highest Educational Qualification during Registration and Education Qualification mandated as per category applied for during Application stage.
2. Online Registration (submission of application) will commence from 13 February 2026 to 01 April 2026. Dates are subject to change, and candidates are advised to follow the same on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
3. Examination Fee: The examination fee is Rs 250/- per Category of application. Payment is to be made through the HDFC portal via Maestro, Master Card, VISA, Rupay Cards (Credit & Debit), Internet banking, or UPI.
4. Duplicate/incomplete/erroneously filled applications will be rejected.
5. Candidates are required to have an active email & mobile number for communication.
6. Candidates must fill in their correct height and weight as per laid down standards and relaxations. Incorrect information or bogus certificates can lead to cancellation.
7. Candidates must indicate five choices of the exam centre. Efforts will be made to allot the preferred centre, but it may be allotted outside the choice due to administrative reasons.
8. Requests for change of exam centre or date will not be entertained.
9. Candidate should enter AADHAAR number in the online application.
10. Practice links for the online Common Entrance Exam are available on the JIA website.
11. Animated videos on registration and appearing for the exam are available on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
12. Upload only a recent photograph. Photos not matching the candidate's face will lead to disqualification.
13. Details about educational qualification, physical/medical standards are available on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
14. Candidates not reporting for the test on the due date & time will not be accommodated on other dates.
What is the recruitment process?
The recruitment process is conducted in two phases:
- Phase-I: Online Common Entrance Examination (CEE) at Computer Based Test Centres.
- Phase-II: Recruitment Rally by Army Recruiting Offices at Rally Venue.
What are the details of the Online Common Entrance Examination (CEE)?
- Candidates must report with a colour printout of the Admit Card.
- Anomalies/irregularities observed during verification can lead to debarment. Download Admit Card from www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
- No candidate will be allowed to enter after the gate closure (1.5 hours before exam start, closes 30 mins prior).
- Carry Aadhar Card as proof of identity for all phases.
- No electronic gadgets are permitted.
- Activities at the exam centre include frisking, admit card/Aadhar check, biometric authentication, hall allotment, attendance, computer login, and appearing for the test.
- Exit biometric is required before leaving the examination hall.
- The CEE will be conducted in 13 languages.
- The test will be objective Multiple Choice Question (MCQ). Candidates will answer 50 questions in one hour or 100 questions in two hours, depending on the category.
- Marking pattern: Full marks for correct answers, Nil marks for unattempted questions. All attempted questions will be considered for evaluation.
- Scores will be normalized to account for difficulty variations.
- Using unfair means will lead to cancellation of candidature.
What happens after Phase-I?
Candidates will be shortlisted based on the written exam result. Roll numbers of shortlisted candidates will be published on the Join Indian Army website. These candidates will receive a second Admit Card for Phase-II, which can also be downloaded online from their login on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
What documents are required for Phase-II (Recruitment Rally)?
Shortlisted candidates must report with the following documents in original along with two attested photocopies:
- Admit Card (Printed on Laser Printer, do not shrink)
- Twenty (20) unattested Passport size colour photographs (not more than three months old, white background, not computerized/photocopied/shopped)
- Education Certificates (Marksheet of all qualifications, Provisional/online certificates signed by head of institution, School Leaving Certificate for Open School candidates)
- Domicile/Nativity/Permanent Residence Certificate with photograph
- Caste Certificate with photograph
- Religion Certificate (if not mentioned in Caste Certificate)
- Police Character Certificate (issued within last six months)
- School Character Certificate
- Character Certificate with photograph (issued by Village Sarpanch/Municipal Corporation within last six months)
- Unmarried Certificate with photograph (issued by Village Sarpanch/Municipal Corporation within last six months)
- Relationship Certificate (for Daughter of Servicemen/Ex-Servicemen/War Widow)
- Affidavit on Non-Judicial Stamp Paper
- NCC Certificate (A/B/C) and Republic Day Parade certificate (original certificates/photocopies for bonus marks accepted only during Rally)
- Sports Certificate (for relaxation in physical standards)
- PAN Card & AADHAR Card (mandatory for final enrolment)
- Tattoo Certificate (if applicable, as per customs and traditions of tribal communities or religious sentiments)
Note: No certificates will be accepted after the termination of the Rally.
What are the physical fitness tests during the Recruitment Rally?
The tests include:
- 1.6 Km Run
- 7ft Ditch
- Zig Zag Balance
- Pull Ups
Note: Timings and marks for the 1.6 Km run can be changed by the Indian Army.
What is the Physical Measurement Test (PMT)?
Physical measurement will be carried out as per laid down Region based and Category wise Physical standards. Relaxations are accepted based on authorized supporting documents.
What is the Medical Examination process?
- Medical examination will be conducted by the Army Medical Team at the Rally site.
- Underweight and Overweight candidates will continue through the process and be screened again.
- Candidates found Medically Unfit for Weight Criteria will be given 21 Days to report for Review Medicals at the nearest Military Hospital/Command Hospital/Base Hospital.
- Candidates declared unfit will have an opportunity for a review by a Specialist at a Military Hospital (MH)/ Base Hospital (BH)/ Command Hospital (CH) within 21 days post Rally Medical Exam or as fixed by the Medical Officer.
- The Recruitment Medical Officer and specialist doctors are the final authorities.
- Passing medical examination is NOT a guarantee for employment.
- Gender: Candidates with predominantly masculine characteristics or who have undergone gender reassignment surgery will be rejected as UNFIT.
- Pregnancy: Female candidates found pregnant will be disqualified. A medical certificate stating non-pregnant status is required at reporting for the rally and training.
- Candidates are advised to undergo medical exam before selection, especially for flat foot, poor vision, deformities, and physical measurements. Ears should be free of wax.
- Validity Period For Medical Examination: If 270 days or more lapse between screening medical and despatch, medical will be done again.
- Use of contact lenses is not permitted.
Who is not eligible to appear in the selection test?
Candidates discharged from the Indian Armed Forces for any reason are not eligible.
What are the special instructions?
- If an Admit Card for Phase-II is not received 05 days prior to the Rally, approach Headquarters Recruiting Zone, Ambala.
- Minimum age is determined as of 01 Jan of the ongoing Recruiting Year (Year 2027), and maximum permissible age is as of 01 July of the ongoing Recruiting Year (Year 2027).
- Candidates must report at the Rally Site by 0400 hours. Reporting after 0600 hours without justification will not be permitted.
- Personal e-mail ID and Mobile Number are mandatory for communication.
- Carry Aadhar Card as proof of identity. Ensure Aadhar details match application details.
- Candidate's Name, Father's Name, Mother's Name, and Date of Birth must be entered exactly as per Matriculation/10th Class Board Certificate.
- Contact details and permanent home address must be entered exactly as per Domicile/Nativity/Permanent Residential Certificate.
- Candidates not in possession of required documents will not be permitted to participate.
- Beware of touts. Recruitment is fair and transparent, based purely on merit.
- Fake documents/impersonation can lead to disqualification.
- Do not pay bribe to anyone.
- A Grievance Cell will be established at the Rally Site.
- Recruitment is based on merit and available vacancies. Passing the process does not guarantee recruitment.
- Candidates not in possession of requisite certificates are liable for rejection.
- Entry to the rally site is permitted only on production of a duplicate Admit Card generated online. Fake Admit Cards will lead to handover to Civil Police.
- Giving/taking bribe, producing fake certificates, or indulging in unfair means is a criminal offence.
- Candidates are advised to check age & education criteria before participating.
- Certificates with overwriting or tampering will not be accepted.
- All submitted documents are verified by government agencies. Fake documents can lead to termination of service and legal action.
- No compensation for Death/Injury/loss during the rally. Participation is voluntary and at the candidate's own risk. Signing of Indemnity Bond is mandatory.
- Character certificate without photo attested by the issuing authority will be rejected.
- Candidates should bring a pen and handkerchief.
- Use of performance-enhancing drugs or contraband drugs is strictly banned.
- Selection is provisional until reporting to the training centre.
- Candidates may have to report to the rally site two to three times. Make own arrangements for stay.
- Final Result will be declared on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. Candidates must check their result and report to ARO for despatch formalities.
- Advised to use suitable running footwear for the 1.6 Km run.
- All information regarding selection/rejection/medical will be given only on official channels. Do not trust unauthorized sources.
