Indian Army Recruitment for Religious Teacher Junior Commission Officer (RT JCO) - 2027

The Indian Army is inviting online applications from eligible candidates for the recruitment of Religious Teacher Junior Commission Officer (RT JCO) for the year 2027. The selection process is fair, transparent, and based on merit only.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age Limit: Civilian Candidates: 25-34 Years (as on 01 Jul 2027). Candidates born between 01 Jul 1993 to 01 Jul 2002 (both days inclusive) are eligible. In-Service Candidates: Same age criteria.
  • Educational Qualification: Minimum educational qualification is Shastri/Acharya in Sanskrit from a UGC recognised University with specific religious qualifications (e.g., 'Karam Kand' as a main subject or a one-year Diploma in 'Karam Kand' for Pandit. Graduation in any discipline with 'Gyani' in Punjabi for Granthi. Graduation in any discipline with 'Alim' in Arabic or Adeeb-e-Mahir/Urdu Mahir in Urdu for Maulvi. Graduation in any discipline and ordained priesthood for Padre. Graduation in any discipline and ordained as Monk/Buddhist Priest for Budhist. BA Sanskrit/MA Sanskrit are not valid qualifications.
  • Physical Standards: Specific height, weight, and chest measurements are provided for different regions and age groups.
  • Medical Standards: Candidates must have robust physique and mental health, good hearing, and healthy teeth. They should not have diseases like deformity of bones, hydrocele, varicose veins, or piles. Serving combatants must be in medical category SHAPE-1.

Application Process:

  • Online registration is mandatory through the Join Indian Army portal (www.joinindianarmy.nic.in).
  • Candidates must have an active email ID and mobile number.
  • Upload a recent passport size photograph.
  • Examination Fee: Rs 250/- to be paid online.
  • In-service candidates need to apply through their unit and forward the application as per Appendix 'A'.

Important Dates:

  • Age Eligibility Determination Date: 01 July 2027.
  • Help Desk Functional Period: 30 Jan 2026 to 30 Jun 2026.

Selection Process:

  • Online Common Entrance Examination (CEE).
  • Recruitment Rally (Physical Fitness Test, Physical Measurement Test, Medical Examination).
  • Personal Interview.
  • Final Merit List based on Paper-II and Interview marks.

Examination Details:

  • The Online CEE will be conducted in Hindi, English, and 11 regional languages.
  • The exam consists of two papers: Paper-I (General Awareness) and Paper-II (Specific to Religious Denominations).
  • Minimum passing marks: 40% in Paper-I and Paper-II (Passing in both papers is compulsory). Paper-I marks are qualifying and not counted for the merit list.

General Instructions:

  • Candidates are advised to check the official website for detailed information.
  • Mobile phones and electronic devices are not permitted in the testing area.
  • Candidates should be clean-shaven (except Sikh candidates).
  • Tattoos are permitted only for tribal communities as per existing customs and traditions, with specific certification requirements.
