National Informatics Centre (NIC) has released a detailed advertisement for the recruitment of Scientist-B posts on a direct recruitment basis. This is a Group-A S&T (Gazetted) position under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. Candidates must have a valid GATE Score from 2024, 2025, or 2026 to be eligible for shortlisting for the Personal Interaction/Interview.

  1. Shortlisting for Interaction/Interview: Based on GATE Score in the ratio of 1:5 (discipline/category wise merit list). Equal weightage is given to GATE 2024, 2025, and 2026 Scores.
  2. Personal Interaction/Interview: Document verification happens before the interview. Candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks of 50% (UR) or 40% (EWS/OBC/SC/ST/PwBD) in the interview to be considered for the final merit list.

How is the Final Merit List prepared?

The final selection is based on the aggregate of:

  • GATE Score: 60% Weightage
  • Personal Interaction/Interview Marks: 40% Weightage

What happens in case of a tie in marks?

Tie cases are resolved in sequence:

  1. Higher GATE Score.
  2. If still tied, higher marks in the Technical (Academic) knowledge section of the interview.
  3. If still tied, the older candidate ranks higher.
