What is this recruitment notification about?

This notification is from the Institute of Teaching & Research in Ayurveda (ITRA), an autonomous body established under an Act of Parliament. ITRA is inviting applications for various Teaching and Non-Teaching posts to be filled through Direct Recruitment.

The Institute of Teaching & Research in Ayurveda (ITRA) is an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. It is located in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

What are the posts advertised?

The advertisement includes two main categories of posts:

  • A. Teaching Posts: Professor (03 posts), Associate Professor (01 post), and Assistant Professor (05 posts).

What is the application fee?

The application fee is as follows:

  • For General/UR/OBC candidates for Teaching/Non-Teaching Posts (Group A posts): Rs. 3000/-
  • For SC/ST/EWS candidates for Teaching/Non-Teaching Posts (Group A posts): Rs. 2500/-
  • For PWD (Persons with Benchmarked Disability) candidates for All posts: No application fee.

The application fee is to be paid by Demand Draft (DD) of a nationalized bank in favour of "Director, ITRA" payable at Jamnagar. The fee is non-refundable.

What are the eligibility criteria for Teaching Posts?

The eligibility criteria vary for each teaching post (Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor). Generally, they require a Degree in Ayurveda, MD/MS (Ayu.) in the concerned subject, PhD, and registration with the relevant council. Specific years of teaching/research experience and a minimum number of high-quality research publications are also required. For Professors, a minimum API score of 120 is needed, for Associate Professors 75, and for Assistant Professors, there are no specific API score requirements mentioned in the essential criteria.

What are the eligibility criteria for Non-Teaching Posts?

The eligibility criteria for non-teaching posts are also specific:

  • Deputy Director (PG): Degree in Ayurveda, recognized Postgraduate degree in Ayurveda, and registration with a Medical Board/Council. Six years of teaching or research experience is required. A PhD and five research publications are desirable.
  • Deputy Director (Pharmacy): Degree in Ayurveda or Pharmacy, recognized Postgraduate degree in Rasashasthra and Bhaishajya Kalpana or Dravyaguna discipline of Ayurveda, OR M. Pharma (Ayurveda) OR M.Sc. (Medicinal Plants) with a bachelor's in Ayurveda. Six years of teaching/industry/pharmacy experience or research experience is required. A PhD and five research publications are desirable.
  • Deputy Director (UG): Degree in Ayurveda, recognized Postgraduate degree in Ayurveda, and registration with a Medical Board/Council. Six years of teaching or research experience is required. A PhD and five research publications are desirable.
  • Pharmaceutical Chemist: M. Pharm (Ayu)/M. Pharm in Chemistry/Pharmaceutical Chemistry OR M.Sc. (Analytical/ Organic/ Pharmaceutical Chemistry) OR M.Sc. (Medicinal Plants) in Phytochemistry, and a PhD degree. Five years of teaching/research experience and at least five research papers are required.

What is the age limit?

The maximum age limits are:

  • Professor: Not exceeding 55 years.
  • Associate Professor: Not exceeding 50 years.
  • Assistant Professor: Not exceeding 40 years.
  • Deputy Director (PG), Deputy Director (Pharmacy), Deputy Director (UG), Pharmaceutical Chemist: Not exceeding 45 years.

Age relaxation is applicable as per Central Government rules.

What is the selection process?

The selection process generally involves shortlisting based on bio-data, followed by an interview. For teaching positions, academic and research scores (API) are also considered. The Competent Authority reserves the right to use any method for shortlisting and selection.

Is there any reservation?

Yes, reservation is applicable as per Government of India rules for SC/ST/OBC, Persons with Disabilities (PWD)/Physically handicapped (PH), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). Candidates claiming reservation must submit the appropriate certificate.

What about EWS candidates?

EWS candidates must have a valid EWS certificate on or before the closing date of application. If suitable EWS candidates are not found, the posts may be filled by UR candidates. EWS candidates applying against UR posts will be considered as UR candidates without any relaxations.

What documents are required?

Candidates need to submit self-attested copies of all relevant certificates, mark sheets, testimonials, and other supporting documents along with the application. For candidates working in Government/Semi-Government/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies, a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer is mandatory. If applying under a reserved category, the relevant certificate must be attached. For PWD candidates, a Disability Certificate is required.

What if I am already employed?

Candidates working in Government/Semi-Government/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies or any institution funded by the Government must apply through proper channel and submit a 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) from their employer. If the NOC is not submitted at the time of application, it must be produced at the time of the interview, failing which the candidature will not be entertained. Candidates need to submit a fresh NOC for this advertisement only.

Can I apply for more than one post?

Yes, candidates applying for more than one post must submit a separate application for each post along with the applicable application fee.

What if my application is rejected?

Applications may be rejected for reasons such as being received after the closing date, not having required qualifications or experience, incomplete applications, applications without photographs or signatures, applications without supporting documents, applications without valid registration/renewal certificates, applications without prescribed fee, or applications not in the prescribed format.
